Beta Privacy Notice
Effective October 26, 2026. This notice covers the invite-only TAC beta.
Who we are
The Anchored Compass (“TAC,” “we”) is an AI guide for communication, relationships and personal growth. It is run by The Anchored Compass LLC, 102 17th Ave NW, Ste 102 #5100, Rochester, MN 55901. Questions: [email protected].
The short version
- TAC is an AI, not a person.
- This is a test system. Your data may be reset or deleted. Don’t share anything you wouldn’t want stored in a test.
- We use what you share only to run TAC for you and to make the beta work.
- Your conversations aren’t shared with other users, and we don’t sell your personal information.
- Our logs record that something happened, not what you said.
- You can download your conversations and delete your account.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and your confirmation that you’re 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up only to check your age. We keep the result (18 or older, when and how it was checked, and which terms you accepted), not your birthday. The age check on our website is remembered only in your browser and isn’t sent to us. Sign-in runs through Amazon Cognito. Inside TAC you’re known by a random ID, not your name.
- What you share with TAC: your messages, plus any screenshots, images, PDFs, Word documents and pasted messages you upload.
- What TAC remembers: TAC may suggest something to remember about your situation. It saves it only if you confirm. Facts about your situation are stored separately from your style preferences, like tone. This is how TAC learns the way you write: it keeps notes in your account and reads them back to the AI each time. The AI model itself doesn’t change, and nothing it learns about you is used for anyone else.
- Feedback: ratings, comments and reports you send about TAC’s answers.
- Usage information, tied to your random ID: when and how much you use TAC, your uploads and storage, which AI model answered, cost, speed and errors. This doesn’t include what you said.
- Joining the beta: what you gave on our early-access form: your name, email, 18+ confirmation, the device you’ll use, state, field of work, what you’d use TAC for, whether you’ve beta tested before, whether you can test a few minutes most days for two weeks, when you can start, whether you agree to stay in the Google Play test for 14 days in a row if you test on Android, how you heard about us and any note you add. We also see which link brought you to the form. If you test on Android, the Google account email you use for the Google Play test.
- Shop and email updates: if you ask to be notified about a Shop item, your name, email and the item you chose, so we can tell you when it’s available. If you also tick the box for TAC updates, we send you occasional news about TAC by email. Every update email has an unsubscribe link.
Voice conversation, where you talk and TAC answers aloud, is coming during the beta. We’ll update this notice before it’s turned on. We won’t keep recordings of your voice; the conversation is saved as text, like typed chat.
Other people’s information
What you share often includes other people, like their names or the messages they sent you. We use it only to help with your request. Please share only what TAC needs to help.
How we use it
- To answer you. TAC uses only the relevant parts of your past conversations in the same project, not your whole history.
- To respond safely if you mention a crisis, self-harm or abuse.
- To run usage limits, control costs, keep TAC secure and fix problems.
- To improve the beta, using usage information and your feedback.
- Only with your separate permission, which is off unless you turn it on: to add examples from your conversations, with names and identifying details removed, to the private tests we use to check new versions of TAC. You can say no and still use TAC.
We don’t use your conversations to train AI models. We only use AI services whose terms don’t allow them to train on your content.
Who handles your data for us
- Amazon Web Services: hosting, storage, sign-in, email and AI processing through Amazon Bedrock. AI processing happens in US AWS data centers.
- Google: the Google Play test, if you test on Android.
- GoDaddy: our website, early-access form and Shop sign-ups.
- Microsoft: our email, including support messages and early-access sign-ups, which arrive by email.
We don’t share your information with advertisers or other users. We may share it if the law requires it.
Who can see your conversations
No one at TAC reads conversations as they happen. Our admin tools show totals, not your messages. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and admin accounts need a second sign-in step.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
- We keep your data while your account is open.
- Because this is a test system, we may reset beta data. Before a planned reset or the end of the beta, we’ll tell you and give you a way to download your conversations. Beta accounts and history don’t move to the launch version automatically, but you can share your downloaded conversations with TAC again yourself, and we’ll explain how.
- You can delete your account in the app or on our website, or by emailing [email protected]. That removes your conversations, uploads and saved facts. Copies in our backups are gone within 30 days of your request, and we keep a record so a restored backup can’t bring deleted data back.
Age
TAC is for adults 18 and older. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we close it and delete its data.
Changes and contact
If we change this notice, we’ll tell testers before the change takes effect. Questions or requests: [email protected].
